A volunteer club that needed a front door.

A service club website has one hard job — convert a curious local into someone who turns up to a meeting — and one soft job: be a credible record of what the club does, so a student applying for a scholarship or a business considering a sponsorship can see it is real.

The site is built around those. Membership has its own path with the meeting details stated plainly rather than buried: fourth Thursday of the month, 6:30pm, Jamul Community Church on Jamul Drive. No one should have to email to find out when you meet.

Events, scholarships, recipients, and a gallery each get their own space, so the club's programmes — the Holiday Toy Drive, Adopt a Highway, the Steele Canyon senior breakfast and spaghetti dinner — are documented rather than announced once and lost. Named recipients matter here: for a scholarship programme, the list of past winners is the credibility.

A club calendar keeps upcoming dates visible without anyone having to rewrite a page every month.

This is a volunteer organisation with rotating officers, so the site had to be something the club can keep current itself long after we finished — updating events and posting recipients without needing us, and without needing anyone technical.
